Maha Lakshmi Puja
The supreme energy of the Divine Mother
The Divine Mother is the Prime Energy, Parashakti or Adishakti, the original source from which all creation flows. Anandi Ma describes this as "the first energy, the energy which is beyond all energies: the energy which was before manifestation of creation, caused creation itself, and will still remain constant after creation is dissolved."
In her form as Lakshmi, the Divine Mother is the shakti of Vishnu, the preserver and protector of the universe. Lakshmi appears as his consort. When the ocean of milk was churned by the devas and asuras, Lakshmi emerged from the waves, holding a fully blooming lotus.Expressing this supreme energy, Lakshmi manifests as the nurturing, sustaining force that brings prosperity, wisdom, and peace to all who seek her blessings.
Inviting Her abundant blessings
Diwali, the five-day Festival of Lights, begins with an invitation to Goddess Lakshmi to enter our homes and hearts, bringing her divine blessings of prosperity and joy. So on the auspicious first day of Diwali, we welcome her with offerings of devotion and light, performing a Maha Lakshmi Puja to the goddess who bestows both material and spiritual wealth. This special "great Lakshmi puja" sets the tone for a new season of gratitude, grace, and inner illumination.
Whether you participate from your home or join in the puja at Antioch Center, these are days of enormous energy, during which the grace of the Divine Mother flows to all who honor Her.

What to expect
While many pujas are deeply moving to watch as they are performed on everyone’s behalf, the Maha Lakshmi Puja offers something extra special: a chance to get involved yourself. Instead of simply observing, you can bring your own items and join in the ceremony by making your offerings as we are guided through the steps.
You may set up a small altar in front of you with a cloth and plate, and a Lakshmi coin or Sri Yantra, then offer roses, flower petals and rice. You might also bring sweets to offer, later taking them home as Prasad. You will create a personal connection with the energy of the puja, and when it’s over you can take your completed puja home with you to place on your altar, carrying the sacred energy and blessings with you.
For those who prefer a more internal experience, an inner puja can be done in alignment with the main puja. Whether you choose to participate with your own offerings or follow along quietly, this puja opens the door and welcomes Lakshmi's blessings of prosperity, joy, and spiritual abundance, bringing her energy into your life and home.At the conclusion, Ma's blessing will add a final touch of grace to this memorable event and we will share a meal together.
